Have you ever thought to yourself: “I wish there were another couple of hours left in the day…I’d get so much more accomplished!”
You probably dream of turning yourself into a Superwoman just so you can get more done!
Maybe you have a demanding career or young children who need your undivided care and attention…
And let’s not forget that you need a little time for yourself too!
So how’s it all going to fit into 24 hours a day, 7 days a week?
When You Don’t Have Enough Time…
Not knowing how to make the most out of the hours you have each day can hurt you in your career and can negatively affect your home life too.
For instance, you could lose out on a promotion or even get fired for missing important deadlines.
Your love relationship might come to an end because your partner feels ignored.
You’ll probably miss out on valuable family time, too. Kids grow up so quickly, and you want to be there for every moment.
How to Become a Time Management Superstar
Here are 7 effective tips you can do right now to get more done every single day.
You’ll be able to turn yourself into a time management superstar in no time!
Tip #1: Make a To-Do List
But I’m here to show how you can fine-tune the to-do listand turn it into an effective little organizing tool.
What you need to do is make 3 sub-lists:
1. What you MUST do every day
For example, pick up your daughter from soccer at 3pm. Clearly, this absolutely MUST be done!
2. What you do on a regular basis (i.e. weekly)
For example, change the cat’s litter box, or volunteer every Friday with your son’s class.
3. What you want to do eventually
One example could be starting a small business online.
Creating these sub categories in your to-do list will help you prioritize your day, week or month and allow you to get a clear picture on how much time you need to spend on various tasks.
Tip #2: Do NOT Multi-task!
It’s a common misconception that if you start 1,000 things at once, you’ll finish them all. Just take a close look at that sentence again…
Doesn’t it sound silly?
The best (and most sane) method to deal with multiple projects is to start one, finish it and then move on to the next.
Tip #3: Work Around Your Own Agenda
Schedule those into your day and work other items around your “must do” events.
Tip #4: Eliminate Distractions
Lock your office door, put your cellphone on silent, and turn off your Internet connection if you have to.
Finish one task then check your electronics. They won’t go away while you’re working — I promise!
Tip #5: Work in Intervals
This is especially helpful when you’re trying to get a task completed in the office. Give yourself 60 minutes (eliminate those distractions first) and just work.
Set a timer if you need to, so you can stay accountable.
Then after you really work for those full 60 minutes…
Tip #6: Remember to Take Breaks
Take a break…really.
Take 5-10 full minutes and do something completely different…walk the dog, call your friend, or read a chapter of a book.
Once you go back to that task, you’ll be revived and ready to work again.
Tip #7: Evoke the Right Attitude
Change how you think about each task and make it more enjoyable.
